KBDi Designer Awards 2018

7 AWARDS WON BY GIA.

GIA Bathrooms and Kitchens had the pleasure of attending the 2018 KBDi Designer Awards Gala held in Queensland this year. It was our first year to attend one of KBDi’s Galas and definitely a memorable experience for all those who attended.

We were blown away by the support and admiration for the bathroom and kitchen designs we entered. We are proud to announce that we won a total of 7 awards and could not have been happier! A massive congratulation to our talented designer Olivia Cirocco for stealing the show by winning all these awards! Here are some images of the awards won, and the judges rational for choosing these GIA bathrooms & kitchens.

KBDI WINNER – DESIGNER MEDIUM KITCHENS VIC/TAS

“The designer has carefully considered every nook and cranny in this lovely, light-filled kitchen. With ample storage, well defined cooking and prep zones and an inbuilt dining area perfect for the unit of five, the kitchen is both functional and family-friendly. Herringbone tiling adds movement and interest in this mostly white and grey kitchen, making the room as pretty as it is practical.”

KBDI WINNER – DESIGNER LARGE BATHROOMS VIC/TAS

“An existing un-used retreat, dinky walk-in robe and ensuite were transformed into a magnificent master suite in this winning design. A black wenge vanity is the hero of the room, with honed Calacatta feature tiles adding more than a little luxe. Black and white counter basins make a statement, too, and matt black tapware is the perfect finishing touch.”

KBDI WINNER – DESIGNER SMALL BATHROOMS VIC/TAS

“A large freestanding bath was a ‘must-have’ for the clients, and some creative planning was required in order to accommodate it. The designer successfully reconfigured the existing space to house this hero bath, along with the required toilet, shower and double vanity. A light grey chevron tile is a design delight, and the perfect backdrop for beautiful black detailing in tapware and accessories.”

They loved the sophisticated and sensitive finishes: from the striking black wenge vanity to the luxurious honed Calacatta feature tiles, to the black and white counter basins and matt black tapware, they said the designer had produced a well-appointed room that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing.”

How does it feel to be recognised by the KBDi and the public for all your hard work, determination and passion for design? Which project were you most proud of and why?

“I feel very humbled by the win, I was not expecting to take out as many awards as we did. I am still surprised and really happy, mostly excited about the overseas trip to Milan! The project I am most proud of is the Hawthorn East project, I loved it the most because I had the chance to completely reconfigure the space to the client’s requirements. The constructed wall concealing both the toilet and shower spaces separately made the bathroom private, which was a key for the client’s brief. It allowed the vanity unit to span across the space and made an impressive statement as you entered the bathroom. It was also really great to have fun with dramatic colours and dark statements, as there was an abundance of natural light in the bathroom space.”
